I don't know about you but I find going on holiday ridiculously stressful.
First you have to sort the dates with your mates and work, then you have to book the tickets, try to find your passport so you can do the online check-in thing, make sure you pack everything you need, sort out your euros, get to the airport at the right time and not miss your flight. Then you have to get your overpriced taxi from the airport and then try and get the best bedroom in the place.
Then, when you're there – you have to make sure you don't die or worse, go to one of those horrible foreign prisons you hear about. A week later and you have to go through it all again.
At least it all usually goes without a hitch. Sometimes mistakes can be made but nothing THAT big. Nothing like getting the airports mixed up. No I don't mean going to Gibraltar when you're supposed to go to Malaga – that's almost reasonable. I mean flying from Alabama when you're supposed to be flying from Birmingham.
That's whatRichella Heekin and Ben Marlow did.
Being all lovely and nice, Richella Heekin decided to treat her boyfriend to a delightful trip from Birmingham to Las Vegas… except she booked the tickets from Birmingham, Alabama.
They didn't find out that they'd wasted 1,200 until they got to the airport itself and tried to check in.
“When we turned up at the airport we couldn't find the flight details anywhere. We approached one of the desks and they told us our holiday was booked from Alabama. I was gutted – more for my partner than for me. She had told everyone and she was really upset. She was distraught and we didn't know what to do”– Said Ben.
“It's a common mistake apparently – but if that's the case the company's website should make it more clear. It's embarrassing because everyone was really happy for us. We are just going to have to start saving from scratch again,”
On the plus side, when they got to airport, they ended up going to Amsterdam instead which is still awesome. And for the price they sold this story for, they probably made their cash back. Smiles all round…
