As the presidential election approaches, some Americans may be indulging in a little reminiscing about great leaders of the past – both domestic and foreign. For Anglophiles who love history and travel, there is a new trail that honors the life and legacy of British statesman Sir Winston Churchill.
Churchill is widely known as the prime minister of Great Britain during the Second World War and as an army officer, historian, writer and artist. But not many people know of his connection with the Isle of Wight, a small island in the English Channel.
A new “Churchill Trail,” launched by the Isle of Wight earlier this year focuses on the famous statesman's time on the island as well as his family's close links with it that began in the 17th century and continue to the present day.
