Disney pin trading has been taking place at Disney Parks since the Millennial Celebration in 1999. Kids and adults purchase Disney pins and trade them throughout the parks with cast members and other guests to build their own unique collections of pins. Disney pin trading for a newcomer can be a little embarrassing, confusing, and even expensive. These tips and tricks can help you avoid all of those things.

I finally took the plunge into the world of Disney pin trading.
I remember walking around Disney World earlier this year and thinking, well that's kind of a fun idea for when my son gets older and can understand why it's neat to collect things that you just look at. Cars and toys are fun for a 3-year-old boy, not pins.
Last weekend I realized how dumb it was to wait for my son to start trading. Pin trading isn't just for the kids, it's for anyone who likes a good game, who likes the thrill of the chase, or who likes Disney. I was wandering around Disney Springs with two of my Traveling Mom friends when it happened. I never expected my friends to walk into the pin trading store, but they did. As soon as we walked in, out came a bag full of inexpensive pins that my friend had purchased specifically for this trip.
After watching my friends look for the villains, nerds, and letters that they needed to complete their own collections, I was hooked. This game loving girl couldn't just play on the sidelines anymore; I needed in. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to pick out a pack of trade-up pins from the World of Disney Store. The princess pins were too expensive. The villains were ones that I wouldn't want to trade away. And so on. I finally ended up with a pack of eight Disney car pins that were the most affordable, and off I went.
I asked cast members question after question about their favorite pins. I apologized far too often for asking to look at pins. I traded pin after pin thinking that I was going to start some sort of collection then realized I had no idea what that collection was. I ran out of pins to trade and traded away the “collections” I'd started, just for the sake of playing the game. And I can honestly say, it was one of the most fun and unique experiences I've ever had at Walt Disney World. And I have a souvenir of 12 mismatched pins in my carry-on bag.
During my first ever weekend of pin trading, I learned four incredibly valuable lessons. They're not necessarily tips for pin trading but instead, my advice to a newcomer from someone who's been pin trading for less than a week.

I Googled it. I Pinterested it. I asked every cast member I could find and all of the other Traveling Moms. The only answer to the question of what should I collect was another question – what do you like?
Yes, there are rare pins and unique pins; those pins are the ones that you're likely never going to see. Or as two cast members told me, “Those are the ones that get pocketed and taken home.” People just don't trade those, they save them and sell them for the big bucks.
What you should collect is all about what you like and what you want to collect. One of my Traveling Mom friends collects villains, Haunted Mansion stuff, and Elliott the dragon. And another one collects nerds, yetis, and tsum tsums. One cast member loved the colorful pins because they were the kids' favorites, and one preferred the silver chasers. As I walked around and watched the pin trading happen all around the parks, I found that unlike other games, pin trading isn't about who's the best or who has the best pins. It's about yourself, your family, and building a collection that's unique to you.
My first tip is to try to figure out what you like before you get to a cast member. It was obvious that I was new as my friends quickly picked the more interesting pins off people before I'd even had a chance to scan the lanyard. It only takes a second to scan for a nerd if you know what you're looking for and in pin trading, being able to scan quickly pays off. If you're the first one to claim a pin – say that you want, not just see – it's yours.
Unless you want to go broke, make the decision to start pin trading now and figure out a good reputable place to purchase inexpensive trade-up pins before your vacation. The pin trading experience felt a bit like playing Candy Crush. In Candy Crush, when you run out of lives, you can either wait and play again for free in an hour or spend the money to purchase another coin and play right away. It took all I had to not run back to the World of Disney Store to purchase more trade-up pins once the first set of eight was gone.
It's also really hard to start collections when you only have a few pins to trade. You end up just trading the same pins over and over again trying to put together something cohesive. Buy enough pins before your trip so that you can trade any time you see something you want, without giving up a pin you'd rather not trade.
Disney Pins | Photo Credit: Britni Vigil, Toddler Traveling Mom
Sometimes cast members will have pins turned over so you can only see the back, not the actual pin itself. Mystery pins are like blind bags for pin trading. If you want a mystery pin, you tell the cast member and you're stuck with whatever pin they flip over. They were my favorite, especially after I saw one of my TravelingMom friends land two or three more exciting pins through mystery selections.
TravelingMom Tip: If you're with a group, have someone who is done trading ask if there is any way to see the mystery pins. We had a couple of cast members willing to show the non-trading traveling mom (and all of us nearby) the mystery pins for the price of a correct answer to a Disney trivia question. Often times cast members won't give you the option to see them, but it worked enough times that it doesn't hurt to ask.

Both of those thoughts ran through my head at various times over the course of the weekend. However, after talking to numerous cast members and asking if it was annoying to have people looking at their pins, the resounding answer was no. Most of the cast members were not only happy to show us their pins, they loved that particular part of their job. And even when we were closing down the Disney Store in Disney Springs, the cast members were coming from all over the store to show off their pins and tell us, three grown women, stories about their experiences pin trading. So no, it's not annoying or just for kids; it's for everyone.

I may not ever collect an entire dress full of unique pins like one guest we saw at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party, but I am from here on out calling myself an official Disney pin trader. And next time I head to Disney, I'll be prepared with an entire bag full of cheap pins to trade away and a Pinterest board full of collections I'm searching for.

I don't really believe in travel experts. We could be in the same place at the same time and still have completely different experiences.
Having said that,I've been lucky enough to havetraveled to all seven continents over the last seven years, which has afforded me the opportunity to make a bunch of mistakes and learn from them.
Below are 50 bit-sized pieces of travel advice which could help make your next trip a little easier:
1. Know where your passport and credit cards are at all times. With these two you can get out of any jam.
2. Always have a backup credit card and money that you keep separately from your wallet or purse.
3. Let your bank know you are going abroad to avoid them freezing your account.
4. If you can be flexible, try traveling to a destination during fringe season, just after the peak season finishes. You can grab yourself a bargain.
5. Consider getting a carry on backpack, which will not only mean you pack less, but you'll also avoid checked baggage fees.
6. Get yourself a discount card like a YHA membership card or a International Youth Travel Card. Small savings add up.
7. If you're traveling relatively unplanned, check your next destination doesn't have a large event or festival on which will drive up prices.
8. Before you buy anything (not just travel items), Google the item nameand discount code. You'll be surprised at what you can find.
9. Traveling on a budget makes your trip more affordable and can extend how long you are away, but treating yourself is still important.
10. Don't bother with padlocks with keys, as you know you'll lose them. TSA four-digit combination locks are best.
11. Get a travel rewards credit card that will earn you points, but more importantly learn how to maximize your redemptions.
12. Have copies of your passport, credit card numbers and travel insurance with family and also save them in your email draftsto access anywhere.
13. Ever dropped your camera in the ocean and have your laptop break on the same day? I have. Back up all your files, particularly your images either on a USB, Dropbox or both.
14. Even if you aren't staying at a hostel, dip in for the low down on what's going on in the place you're in. They are always very knowledgeable.
15. Before heading to any destination, learn a few pleasantries in the local language and the essential numbers. Talking to locals will go a lot smoother.
16. If you're getting antsy before you leave, get your head in a travel book such as, “On The Road” by Jack Kerouac, “The Beach” by Alex Garland or “The Alchemist” by Paul Coelho.
17. If you're on the road a long time, there's nothing wrong with seeking a bit of familiarity to avoid homesickness. Everyone couple of months in South America I would visit a mall, get pizza and watch a movie.
18. If you have the facilities at your accommodation, don't eat out and shop for local produce at the supermarket instead. It's cheaper and always an experience.
19. Befriending locals is an excellent way to explore a destination. How can you do that safely? Try using Meetup.com. They have meetups in most major cities, and have every interest you can think of. Running club in Medellin, anyone?
20. Going anywhere without travel insurance is foolish. You always think it won't be you, but then it happens.
21. Most hostels will have or know of a free walking tour. Take these whenever you go to a city. Not only are they informative, but they will help you get your bearings.
22. Make sure your travel vaccinations are up to date. Your health is not something to be taken lightly.
23. Learn how to laugh it off. Things break, t-shirts get ruined and chicken buses take forever. It's all part of the journey.
24. Build wiggle room into your travel plans for the unexpected. Better yet, don't have any travel plans.
25. Never be afraid to travel solo. It's not only exhilarating and life defining but it easier than you think.
26. Wear sunscreen. Even if it feels cool, the sun is stronger than you think. Sunburn is no joke.
27. Get up early. Ever been to Machu Picchu when it's nearly empty? It's even better than when the crowds arrive.
28. Taking photos is important, but don't spend your whole time behind the lens. Take the snaps you need and then enjoy what you're doing.
29. Earplugs are incredibly vital if you plan on staying in hostels. Silicone earplugs are the best and don't forget to pack spares.
30. Download podcasts for those long journeys. I personally like podcasts such as “The Tim Ferriss Show,” “Andrew Hansen” and “Tropical MBA.”
31. When checking in to your accommodation, pick up their business card. I've lost count of the amount of times I have got into a taxi and they didn't know where the place I was staying was.
32. Keep in touch with family and friends. It's easy to get caught up in what you're doing and neglect those whowill be there when the journey ends.
33. Even if you're traveling in the tropics, having a hoodie or light top in your day bag goes a long way. Those air conditioned transportation methods can get quite chilly. It also doubles up as a pillow.
34. If you're comfortable driving abroad, hire a car and go off the beaten track. Pick a random town and drive there. Take your time and several stops along the way. You never know what you might come across.
35. If you're on a bus, train or just waiting at the airport, keep a wrist or ankle through the loop of your handbag or day pack to deter opportunist thieves from running off with it. This is especially important if you're prone to falling asleep like me.
36. Update your social media with your location. Not only does it let people know where you are, it also brings out people who have already been there and can offer travel advice.
37. Add people you meet on social media. You never know when you might meet again or when a casual acquaintance may become a life-long friend.
38. Don't get overcharged because you don't know how to haggle. Practice makes perfect, and it's always fun to banter with a local.
39. Get better at swimming or learn if you don't know how. It's amazing how many activities involve water when you go traveling.
40. Consider hiring a bike to explore a city if walking isn't your thing. There are so many cycle-friendly cities.
41. Know your local laws before you visit a country. Chewing gum in Singapore, wearing heels at archaeological sites in Greece or feeding the pigeons in Venice are just some ways you can fall foul of the law.
42. If you're single, have a travel fling. They are spontaneous and fleeting, but that's what makes them fun.
43. Always carry Imodium in your first-aid kit for when those tummy problems occur. Also, have a basic first-aid kit.
44. Try and be a green traveler. Reuse your plastic bottles and don't have fresh bed sheets and towels at a hotel.
45.Start a blog. Not only is it a great way to collect your memories, but it might turn out into a career like it did for me.
46. Resist the urge to check your valuables when you see a sign that pickpockets are operating in the area. All you're doing is signaling to pickpockets where your valuables are.
47. Never pack anything you aren't willing to lose or break, whether its expensive or has sentimental value.
48. If you're on a big adventure, look into a round the world ticket, which could work out much cheaper than single fares.
49. Food is nearly always better at a restaurant that is not in the tourist areas. Here's a hint: If it has its menu in several different languages, you're sat in a restaurant for tourists.
50. Be present in every moment. Look a round, take a deep breath and absorb everything you can about where you are, including the sights, sounds and smells.
It's easy to get distracted by your next social media update, your plans that evening or how low your travel funds are running. Be present.

After Ibiza and Sicily, I went to San Remo, Italy for a day then explored South of France. My favorite was Antibes, which was located right between Cannes and Nice. What I loved about this town was that everything looked like it came straight out of a magical storybook. Less foot traffic than the other areas (I went to Nice and Monaco) and way more of a relaxed feel. I felt like I was in South of France, but also felt like I kind of lived there because it's a very small town that you get acquainted to the streets really fast. Not to mention, I had some of the best food here.
How gorgeous is this stone house with blue shutters? I'd love to wake up every morning, sip on my green juice on the balcony while looking over the sea. It's so romantic!
I wore a Zimmermann playsuit again because I thought the blues went perfectly with the setting!

Have you heard of Chiang Mai? After reading this, you'll have not only heard of it but be very keen to go and explore it very soon! This Thai hotspot has been on the radar for travellers-in-the-know for years and it's not hard to see why. Nestled in the mountainous northern Thailand regions, it's got a bit of everything, and is the perfect spot to head to when you've had enough of the cheeky larrikinism of the tourists and touts on the beaches to the south. If you're planning a trip to Thailand any time soon or if you're just planning a trip on the horizon, this is a great option for you. Chiang Mai has plenty of culture and options for onward travel, so be sure to consider it as part of your itinerary. Take a look at the options for getting around Chiang Mai thanks to the good people at Travezl. Their insider knowledge of the local areas is second to none. Let's take a look at some of the unmissable attractions for the intrepid traveller to explore.

I'm one of those people who likes to travel with their stomach. I can't help it – it's just who I am. The moment I realised that this was the best decision I had ever made was when I was tucking into a fragrant, steamy bowl of khao soi noodles in curry sauce. Topped with a sprinkling of crispy noodles as well, this chicken or beef concoction has a huge range of delicious condiments including pickled cabbage, shallows and lime. It is – in a word – heaven. It's one of Thailand's most renowned dishes and is found all around the world.
Thanks to the location in the mountains, there is an abundance of parks and options for the intrepid camper. You can pitch your own tent or rent one on arrival from the park headquarters. If camping isn't your thing, why not rent a cabin or a hut for your party? There is plenty of stunning countryside to explore and once the sun goes down, you'll be treated to a starry blanket to enjoy.
source
This imposing mountain is very recognizable and is an exciting part of the countryside to explore. Take a trip to the top for a great view over the city, and perhaps head up before dawn to watch the sunrise from the top.
There are a lot of excursions around which you can take up to explore the hill tribes areas. Once you have explored the mountains, why not get down the easy way with the 'Flight of the Gibbon' zip line which takes you an impressive five kilometers back down through forest canopy?
There's nothing better than shopping and trekking around all day to be then treated to a great foot massage to soothe your tired trotters.
You would be hard pressed to walk down the street without seeing a celebration of some kind happening. That's just Thailand. The correct response is to get swept up into the excitement and celebrate with the local people.
The roads around this scenic spot are among the prettiest in the country. Explore them by scooter, motorbike or car – and be sure to pack your camera. As always when driving, take extra caution on the roads.
Have fun exploring Chiang Mai and all that it has to offer.

As the presidential election approaches, some Americans may be indulging in a little reminiscing about great leaders of the past – both domestic and foreign. For Anglophiles who love history and travel, there is a new trail that honors the life and legacy of British statesman Sir Winston Churchill.
Churchill is widely known as the prime minister of Great Britain during the Second World War and as an army officer, historian, writer and artist. But not many people know of his connection with the Isle of Wight, a small island in the English Channel.
A new “Churchill Trail,” launched by the Isle of Wight earlier this year focuses on the famous statesman's time on the island as well as his family's close links with it that began in the 17th century and continue to the present day.

Fishing is a great way to spend time on the calm and cool banks of a river or lake. The quietness that surrounds you as your fishing pole and lure bob in the water, hoping and waiting for that tug on your line from a huge fish! Whether you're standing on the misty banks in the early morning, or taking a boat out on a lake, fishing is fun and relaxing. Try out one of the spots for some great fishing opportunities on some of the best lakes for fishing!
Michigan State is home to some of the best lakes and rivers for fishing and Lake Leelanau is no exception. The lake is actually two bodies of water referred to as north Lake Leelanau and south Lake Leelanau. The lake is fairly narrow and can be easily seen from either side. Year round fishing for Walleye fish is very popular here and they can be anywhere from 15 to 28 inches in length! There are also smallmouth bass and bluegills to fish for as well. Test your luck at Lake Leelanau and take home a huge Walleye fish.
Texas folks love to fish and there's no better place than Lake Whitney. The lake is only 108 feet deep and has a good variety of fish in its waters like the striped/white bass, smallmouth and largemouth bass and blue as well as flathead catfish. The lake is over 23,000 acres and curves around in an “S” shape. It is quite narrow and has beautiful scenery along its banks and is known as one of the prettiest lakes in Texas. Banks lined with trees as well as limestone bluffs and rocky pints can be seen along its shores. The scenery is beautiful and the fishing is fantastic!
Sunny Florida is surrounded by ocean, but has many land-based water features as well. Lake Kissimmee is a popular place for bass fishing and anglers flock to the lake from miles around to try their skill at catching one of the huge bass fish. Lily pads are present and can make catching one of these creatures tough, but the catch may be worth it. Tournaments are a common occurrence in the Florida waters and Lake Kissimmee will have plenty. This fish are biting and the anglers are ready at Lake Kissimmee.
The peaceful banks of the Sturgeon Bay in Wisconsin are well-known for its smallmouth bass fishing. Sturgeon Bay is separated from Lake Michigan by a thin strip of Wisconsin land. The bay cuts into the state, providing the opportunity for fishing, water sports and great water views from land. The water is clear and the fish are numerous and well-sized. Hop in a boat or stand on the shores for some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the entire country.
There isn't just one Great Lake that is good for fishing, because they are all exceptional! Lake Erie has walleye and smallmouth bass, Lake Superior has jumbo perch and trout, Lake Huron has plenty of trout, whitefish, walleyes and Atlantic and pink salmon, Lake Ontario and Lake Michigan have some of the best salmon fishing. These lakes touch 7 different states as well as Canada. The scenery is gorgeous and there are hundreds of miles of water for water sports, boating and fishing opportunities awaiting you. Thousands of people visit and use the lakes every summer and some large and lengthy fish have been caught here.
Colorado's Grand Lake is one of the deepest as well as natural lakes in the state. People flock here to catch several different kinds of trout, including rainbow, large, fresh brown and brook. Lots of pine trees comb the banks and the rolling hills lead up to some great mountain views from the lake. Small boats, canoes and rafts are allowed on the smaller lake to try to make your trout catch. The area is popular for fishing and fly fishing and many areas especially along the banks have brochures, fishing gear and great information that may assist you in catching that perfect trout during your visit.
Big Bear Lake is a beautiful little lake in California, surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest. It is a reservoir located in the mountains and at the widest point across it is 2.5 miles, so it is a smaller lake. This lake has an amazing mountain lake fishing experience, complete with views to die for and rainbow trout, tons of bass, crappie, bluegill, bullheads and many other types of fish waiting to be caught. Enjoy the mountain air and the dark blue waters full of fish at Big Bear Lake.
Lake Barkley in Kentucky has tree lined banks and also banks with sand for a ix of stunning landscaping along the 1,004 miles of shoreline. With over 100 miles of water, the lake is full of catfish and big catfish at that! Anglers report catching catfish anywhere from 10 to 20 lbs., as well as striped bass, white bass, Redear sunfish and largemouth bass. There are large amounts of “trophy” fish at Barkley Lakes and many anglers come in hopes of catching that huge largemouth bass.
Created from a reservoir in North Dakota, this lake is the third largest in the U.S. and also the largest man-made lake. Named after the Native American girl that helped guide Lewis and Clark on their expedition, the large lake boasts one of the finest fishing areas in the U.S. The lake is legendary for its marvelous fishing and many travel to the area to see for themselves. The Missouri River fills the lake and large trophy fish can be found including walleye, Chinook salmon and northern pike. There are over 1500 miles of shoreline that are mixed with rocky shore areas as well as secluded bays and fantastic scenery. Experience one of the greatest places to fish and see what you can catch.
These lakes present some of the best fishing areas in the U.S. and many tournaments and anglers try their reels at catching one of the huge trophy fish that call these waters their home. Sit on the bank and admire the quiet and beauty of the shoreline and surrounding trees and mountains, or head out in a boat to the middle of the shimmering waters in hopes of catching the perfect fish. Try one of the best lakes for fishing in the U.S. and good luck!

On October 1, 2016, Walt Disney World celebrates the Magic Kingdom 45th Anniversary. In honor of the occasion, our TravelingMom writers share their favorite Walt Disney World Memories.

Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, with just the Magic Kingdom theme park and The Contemporary and The Polynesian Village Resort hotels. Only 10,000 guests visited the park on opening day. How time flies as now we are celebrating Magic Kingdom's 45th anniversary!
In just 45 years, Walt Disney World has become the number one family travel destination in the United States. It has grown to include four theme parks, two water parks, shopping and entertainment district, 18 resort hotels, and nine Disney Vacation Club resort hotels. An estimated 150,000 people visit a Walt Disney World theme park each day.
WOW! It is hard to believe that it was all started by a mouse.
In honor of the Magic Kingdom 45th anniversary, several of our TravelingMom writers have shared their favorite memories from The Most Magical Place on Earth.
We have stories of weddings and honeymoons, birth announcements to first haircuts, first trips, and childhood memories. All made at Walt Disney World.

In the spring of 1995, my (now) husband was scheduled to graduate and start his new job, and we knew he wouldn't earn vacation time for at least six months. So in just five short weeks, we planned an intimate wedding at Walt Disney World. The thought of a formal ceremony in front of hundreds of people scared us both, so a Disney wedding with no guests was perfect for us.
The morning of our wedding, we played at Disney Hollywood Studios. Then on that hot afternoon, we were married at the Polynesian Village Resort with Cinderella castle in the background. We enjoyed cake and champagne, then took a short ride on the monorail to eat dinner at the Grand Floridian Resort. I love that Disney World is such an important part of our family's story.

Since our first family visit five years ago, we've become completely obsessed with all things “House of Mouse.” Our semi-annual visits keep us busy, but I'll never forget the look on my daughters' faces when they saw Cinderella Castle for the first time- and my husband's, too! It's one thing to visit WDW when you're young but oh-so-satisfying to visit as a parent. It's the ear-to-ear smiles that I remember most, and it's those same smiles that keep us going back- it's our happy place!

Ft. Wilderness with my cousin… Daniel Boone cap and all…

As a child growing up an hour and a half from Walt Disney World, my family would run over often to Disney (that's what we all called it–there was never even a thought that we needed to be more specific than that).
We weren't rich. We'd always stay at Fort Wilderness campgrounds - in our own tent. We would have loved cabin living, but even that was too rich for our blood. We'd pair up as kids and take the ferry over to the Magic Kingdom.
At the time, they still used e-tickets. We'd each get a strip or two of e-tickets, and ride whatever rides we could until they ran out. Then, we'd just run around the park until the designated time to meet up with our parents–usually at the Country Bear Jamboree. We'd humor ourselves riding the monorail around the park. It was air conditioned, so a great relief from the heat or rain that hits almost every afternoon in Florida.
I can't even imagine letting my children pair up and run around the parks now, but those are some great memories.

Meeting Tigger for the very first time in Walt Disney World. Photo Credit: Sarah Gilliland, Twins TravelingMom
My earliest memory of Walt Disney World is meeting Mickey and the gang. I remember feeling in awe of meeting the Main Mouse himself. Meeting characters has always been a favorite activity of mine, and I'm happy to have been able to pass that tradition on to my children.
I've always loved the smell of Main Street, U.S.A., and the way it feels to round the corner and see Cinderella Castle for the first time.
I've been fortunate enough to take my own children on several trips since their birth, and I love experiencing Walt Disney World through their eyes each time we visit.

I was told when my son was three that I would never be able to conceive another child (I had a cervical cancer scare.) This photo was taken shortly after we found out I was pregnant. I suspected, so I brought a test along with me on vacation. My daughter was born eight months later, and she will be celebrating her 10th birthday this Fall. The most magical experience I have ever had in WDW was finding out I was pregnant after being told I couldn't have any more children.

We found the elusive Mulan and Mushu! Photo Credit: Shannon Entin, RoadSchooling TravelingMom
Back in 2006, the Disney Princesses didn't do photo appearances on a schedule the way they do now. Mulan was elusive. We stalked around China in Epcot, hoping to be in the right place at the right time. The kids were SO excited when we found Mulan and Mushu!

Walt Disney World is a big experience with so much to learn and explore! Photo credit: Julie Bigboy-Day Trips Traveling Mom
As a lifelong Disneyland guest, I only just visited Walt Disney World for the first time last year. Being such a huge Disney fan, it was wonderful to get there finally! There was a big learning curve going from compact Disneyland to enormous Walt Disney World, but I can't wait until my next visit to make more memories.

Check out these cute honeymooners from 1995! Photo Credit: Patty Holliday, Candid TravelingMom
The first time I went to Walt Disney World was 1995 with my new husband. Our honeymoon was pushed back a bit (thanks, US Army!), so we headed to Walt Disney World in late spring.
He talked me into riding Space Mountain, something I was absolutely terrified of doing! A roller coaster? In the DARK? Nope… not happening, buddy! He knew this about me when we got married: I'm a big ol' wimp.
But young love prevailed, and I found my brave when I boarded the rocket ship. I still remember gulping hard and shooting him a panicky look as we started up the lift hill.
And you know what? It was wonderful!
I had a great time and learned a lesson that day: I could trust my husband in all things Disney. He was the expert back then, and he knew what I could handle.
Whenever he rolls his eyes at (another) Disney vacation planning discussion, I like to remind him that our family was built on our love of Disney. Hey, man, it's all your fault!

Who knew a first haircut could be so much fun? Photo Credit: Tania Lamb, Latina TravelingMom
Walt Disney World holds a special place in my heart because it's the first Disney park I ever visited.
With my own children, it's a place where we've had many firsts. First rides on certain attractions, first meet and greets with Mickey Mouse, first taste of favorite snacks, first parades, etc.
One memory that really stands out is one of my lasts. The last first haircut of my youngest daughter. This was the last time any child of mine would get their first haircut on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Harmony Barber Shop.
It was bittersweet. It was a sign that my children were growing up, that some traditions would have to be put on hold, and that the next time it would happen would be a different phase of life. I'd have to wait for my grandchild's first haircut.
Now I know why my parents love traveling with us. It truly is magic to see things through a child's eyes. Until then I'll settle on the memory of that joy my baby girl had in that chair. All that attention and all the Disney stickers a girl could wish for.
